Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, demons, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to begin their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise started the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the team reach locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Questers and Strategists groups.
Fans can expect learning which players will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
